HUMAN PERFORMANCE
Building Trust
Today has been a day of reflection.

Today has been a day of reflection.
The kind where you stop planning for a while and start asking yourself the harder questions. I suspect many founders and leaders know exactly what I mean.
The last few weeks have been exciting. I'm creating something from the work and experience I've gained. I see it as my life's work. Whether it succeeds or fails won't determine my worth, but I believe deeply in the work itself.
Most people knew me as a sales professional. I was fortunate to have a career I'm proud of, but I also pushed far too hard, burned myself out, and one day kicked the ladder out from underneath myself. The years since have been spent rebuilding, not just my health, but the way I think about organizations and work itself.
What I am sitting with today is this:
How do you build trust in a market where fewer people want to be approached, sold to, or interrupted?
For most of my career, I relied on relationships.
Getting in the room mattered.
Listening mattered.
Asking better questions mattered.
Trust was built through conversation, not just content.
But the market changed while I was away.
Buyers research quietly.
Executives are guarded.
Everyone is overwhelmed.
Many people have been burned by polished marketing that didn't match the experience. I understand the skepticism. Truthfully, I probably contributed to it at times myself.
That creates a real challenge for anyone trying to build something honest.
I've never been very good at pretending to believe something I didn't. That was both an asset and a liability in sales. Some managers loved it. Others wished I'd just stick to the script. Looking back, I wouldn't trade it.
In such a noisy world, the answer can't just be "create more content."
It has to be creating enough credibility that the right people are willing to have a real conversation.
That's what I'm working through.
How do I make my thinking visible without turning it into performance?
How do I show credibility without pretending to have all the answers?
How do I build a business around trust in a world that has less of it?
I don't have the whole answer yet.
But I do know this:
The organizations that solve the human trust problem will outperform those that only optimize for efficiency.
Technology and markets change. People don't stop needing trust.
I don't know exactly how I'll earn trust in this next chapter.
I do know I won't build it by pretending to be someone I'm not.
If Aureus Advisory Group becomes anything of value, I hope it's because people experienced an honest conversation, thoughtful questions, and a relationship worth keeping.
Maybe that's unconventional.
I'm okay with that.
